Hey K-Family!

This year's District Project is Fighting Food Insecurity!

What is Food Insecurity?

Food insecurity is an economic and social condition where a household has limited or uncertain access to enough safe, affordable, and nutritious food.

Donating will help:

  • Provide Meals

  • Relieve Financial Stress

  • Provides Basic Necessities

  • Reduces Food Waste

How can you help fight Food Insecurity?

You can help by donating food to local food pantries! For our District Project, Fighting Food Insecurity, we are collecting different types of food each month. Our goal is to collect 25–50 donations from each division every month to help provide food for those in need. Here’s the breakdown!

  • September: Applesauce/Other Canned Fruits

  • October: Cereal/other boxed grains

  • November: Thanksgiving Foods

  • December: Soups and other warm foods

  • January: Pastas & Meat Sauce

  • February: Sandwich Ingredients

  • March: All Call, Every food counts!

Events your Key Club can do to fight Food Insecurity:

  • Community Meal Service — Help prepare and serve meals at a community organization.

  • Food Pantry Volunteer Day — Volunteer to sort, organize, or distribute food.

  • Canned Food Drive — Collect canned and nonperishable foods for a local food pantry.

  • Garden Maintenance Day — Weed, plant, water, and maintain a community garden.
